Sclreotherapy of varicose veins is a procedure that helps to get rid of small cracked veins and cobweb-like varices. It is a modern procedure that is performed on an outpatient basis and does not require incapacity for work or hospitalization.

Sclerotherapy is performed by injecting a substance called sclerosing solution, into the the vein, thereby disrupting the inner layer of the vein and causing a small inflammatory reaction that causes the vein to completely fill.

As a result, the vein ceases to fill with blood, reduces its volume and ceases to be visible. This method of removing varicose veins can be applied to small cracked veins, small varicose veins, or medium-sized deformed superficial veins. Sclerotization of medium-sized veins is always performed under ultrasound and infrared control.

The whole process is performed without the need for anesthesia, or only under light local anesthesia and brings none to minimal pain. After the treatment, compression stockings is put on the limb, which must be worn for at least 48 hours and then during the day. After treatment, the patient can continue the normal work process without restrictions.
